This week Chicago promoter Harmonica Dunn will be hosting Dunn Dunn Fest; a three night, six venue showcase featuring a number of local (and non local) bands. The fest will run from Thursday, February 18th to Saturday, February 20th with performances at Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, Tonic Room, Lincoln Hall, Schubas and The Hideout.
With so many great local bands at some of Chicago’s top venues, you really can’t go wrong with any show. Nonetheless, here’s who we’re excited to see:
Who: Sidewalk Chalk
When: Thursday, February 18th @
Where: Lincoln Hall
Price: $10 adv/ $12 door
Sidewalk Chalk preforms a uniquely packaged infusion of hip hop, jazz and soul. The 8-pieced band, composed of an emcee, singer, trumpeter, keyboardist, bassist, drummer, trombonist and tap dancer has been named Chicago Reader’s “Best Hip Hop Band of 2010” and has played alongside national acts such as J*Davey, Company of Thieves, Georgia Anne Muldrow and ?uestlove.
The night will be an all-Chicago showcase with performances by Spare Parts, BoneLang, and OBY.
Who: American Grizzly
When: Friday, February 19th @ 9PM
Where: Subterranean
Price: $10
Enjoy an American rock and roll show featuring Chicago’s very own American Grizzly. The band’s minimalist approach sets the mood for what can be expect to be a night of good friends, cold beer and great music.
This show will also include performances by Strange Americans and Falcor Friends.
Who: Woo Park
When: Saturday, February 20th @ 9:00PM
Where: Subterranean
Price: $10 adv/ $12 door
If you want to see talented musicians effortlessly slay some seriously complex and chaotic music , then you defiantly won’t want to miss Woo Park; especially since this will be the band’s last show for a while.
